Transit Director Position
Background:
The Southeast Iowa Regional Planning Commission (SEIRPC, www.seirpc.com) is seeking a motivated and skilled professional to fill a full-time position as Transit Director of the Southeast Iowa Bus (SEIBUS) public transit service. SEIBUS serves Des Moines, Henry, Lee, and Louisa counties, providing approximately 135,000 rides annually within the region to the general public. The service has 21 staff, 28 vehicles, and a $1.5 million operating budget. For more information on the service please visit www.seirpc.com/seibus. The Transit Director is responsible for the management, promotion, operation and procedural functions of SEIBUS and administration of SEIRPC, Iowa DOT and Federal Transit Administration policies as they pertain to transit. This position reports to the SEIRPC Executive Director. Compensation range is between $67,000 and $83,000, dependent on skills and experience, with an excellent benefits package. Benefits package includes two options for health insurance plans, dental insurance, optional vision insurance, short and long-term disability, life insurance, Iowa state pension plan IPERS, optional 457 retirement investment plan, paid time off, paid holidays, and flexible work scheduling.
Preferred Qualifications and Skills:
- Completion of a four-year undergraduate program (may substitute work experience for degree)
- A minimum of five years management experience including budget development and management, project planning and execution, and personnel relations.
- Effective written and oral communication
- Financial and data analysis
- Experience in private or public transportation industry
- Experience in labor relations

PART-TIME BUS DRIVER POSITION
The Southeast Iowa Regional Planning Commission / SEIBUS is hiring immediately a part-time driver for the Henry County #2 – General Public route. This route has approximately 20 hours of drive time per week, not including time for inspections and cleaning. See schedule below:

Part-Time Driver positions do not qualify for health benefits but do qualify for Iowa Public Employees’ Retirement System (IPERS) and PTO (Earned Vacation) benefits.
- Part-Time Driver position wage starts at $15.70 effective 7/1/2023.
- A new hire bonus of $300 for payout 7/1/2024 if hired after 7/1/2023 and work > 80 Hrs. before 6/30/2024.
- Current & Future Full & Part-Time Drivers along with Substitute Drivers qualify by seniority for future SEIBUS full and part-time driver positions as
they become open.
- This position requires a good driving record and Class C, CDL license with “Passenger endorsement”.
- Drivers will be driving 15 passenger vans & 18 to 28 passenger wheelchair accessible light duty buses.
- Applicants must be able to pass a DOT physical and drug screening along with a background check before hire.
